Should You Paint Your Kitchen Cabinets?
Ready to give your kitchen a new look, but not sure you’re ready to commit to a full remodel?
It’s a classic conundrum, especially if your kitchen really meets your needs overall but you just have the itch for something different. Maybe you’ve been looking at gorgeous white or gray cabinets, with that bold blue island, and suddenly your honey oak finish from 1996 just isn’t cutting it.
We get it.
The good news is that you have options. A lot of local homeowners are looking for cabinet painting services in Delaware Valley and the Jersey Shore, preferring a fresh finish over a long, expensive construction project.
Is it the right pick for you? Here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Ask yourself these questions before painting your kitchen cabinets…
1. Does your kitchen meet your needs?
We’re talking storage, layout, and overall functionality. Remember, painting is an awesome alternative, but it won’t add pantry space. Be sure that your kitchen checks every other box before investing in the cosmetic quality.
2. Are your cabinets in good condition?
A skilled cabinet painter can finish light repairs as part of the preparation process, plus swap hardware, but cabinets that need substantial repairs just aren’t a good fit.
3. Are your cabinets worth investing in?
Cabinet painting is less expensive than a kitchen remodel, but it isn’t cheap. You need to be sure that your cabinets are worth the time, energy, and resources required to do the job right.
Choose your cabinet painting company carefully
What many homeowners don’t realize is that cabinet painting is a very specialized process. Your new finish has to be beautiful, but it also has to be super durable, long-lasting, and applied in just the right way. No uneven spots, brush marks, or blemishes.
The best way to do that is to repaint the doors and drawer faces in a dedicated spray shop. A controlled environment allows for an exceptional finish quality, reducing dust and other contaminants during the spraying process. We’ve seen what happens when well-intentioned do-it-yourselfers tackle the job, and we’ve seen what happens when unqualified painting companies tackle the job too.
You and your kitchen deserve better.
